Each day I will be giving you a break down of days at the Olympic Games. Since I arrived extremely late on February 16, this one will be short.

Disappointment:
Arriving at the Vancouver airport with no Quatchi in sight. Quatchi is one of the lovable mascots of the Olympic Games and I really wanted to give him a hug. When I a rrived at the Beijing airport, there was a Fuwa mascot waiting there to greet me. In Vancouver, no one was waiting for me :<(

Highlight: Stopping by Olympic Flame. On the way to my home for the next eight days, I stopped by the Olympic Flame. During the opening ceremony, Wayne Gretzy and three others lit a flame indoors, and outdoors Gretzy lit another outdoor flame in the city. Traditionally, the Olympic Flame burns somewhere in the Olympic stadium, inaccesible to the average person. Vancouver changed things by placing the flame right in the middle of the city.

Surprisingly, it was a massive construction zone. Construction workers were reconstructing a smaller barrier around the flame because of public complaints that it was too large. They want to be even close to the flame.
